Last night, Brighton City Council approved plans to renovate Recreation Center Playground, Donelson Park Playground, and Colorado Park Tennis Court this year.

Both playgrounds will be upgraded with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-accessible features and structures designed to be more inclusive for children of all ages. The renovations to Donelson Park Playground are expected to make it one of the most inclusive in the City. Planned features include:

Recreation Center Playground (555 North 11th Ave.):

  • ADA-accessible pour-in-place surfacing
  • Extended footprint to incorporate a swing bay
  • Shade structure to help reduce heat
  • Commercial-grade playground
Donelson Park Playground (4500 Midland St.):

  • ADA-accessible sensory panels throughout the structure
  • Pour-in-place surfacing
  • ADA ramp access to the playground
  • Multiple inclusive play features
Colorado Park Tennis Court (254 Miller Ave.):

  • Post-tension concrete foundation
  • New surfacing and striping
  • New nets and fencing
The Recreation Center Playground project is fully funded by a portion of the proceeds the City of Brighton received from the sale of the Denver Broncos. For more information, please contact Parks Manager Ryan Smith at rfsmith@brightonco.gov or 303.655.2007.
