East Colfax Avenue Bus Rapid Transit Community Meeting July 12

The city of Aurora invites residents and businesses to join us from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave., to learn more about how the East Colfax Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will operate in Aurora.

In partnership with the City and County of Denver, the Regional Transportation District and the Colorado Department of Transportation, the city of Aurora is improving East Colfax Avenue transit service via East Colfax Avenue BRT, a premium transit service with upgraded buses, high service frequency, enhanced stations, and dedicated transit lanes whenever possible or feasible.

East Colfax BRT will run from Denver Union Station to the R Line Station at Interstate 225 in Aurora. The BRT route will operate in dedicated center-running lanes from Broadway to Yosemite Street. From Yosemite Street to I-225 in Aurora, the BRT will operate in the outermost travel lanes, sharing that lane with general traffic.

The Colfax BRT project allows the city of Aurora to transform the way people move throughout our corridor, making it more efficient, safer, and sustainable. The city of Aurora has contributed an initial $2.3 million to the project for station design in Aurora. Federal Transit Administration funding has also been secured to begin implementation of the project. BRT construction is slated to begin in 2024, with operation starting in early 2027.

Residents are encouraged to RSVP for the meeting online at DenverGov.org/ColfaxBRT. For more information, visit DenverGov.org/ColfaxBRT.
